NOES 2 - Freddys Revenge Drinking Game

Well folks, one of my favourite websites Arrow In The Head, has started a podcast, and I really enjoyed it and I suggest to Ammon (who does the podcast) that perhaps having a Horror Movie Drinking Game on each show would be cool. He really dug the idea, and featured it on podcast no. 3 which you can check out by clicking here.

Anyway Ammon asked me what movies I had in mind, and he might use it. So I suggested one of my all time guilty pleasure films A Nightmare On Elm Street 2: Freddys Revenge. He used it for the podcast, which was awesome.

So folks this is the game, and please if you do go ahead and play it, play it responsibly.

Put the movie on, have some drinks handy (normally the rules of the game is to have shots, but you can have some bottles of beer ect...), so every time anything remotely gay (gay in the homosexual sense) happens, you have to drink. This film is filled with an insane amount of homosexual undertones, so just be aware of how much you drink haha. You also have to drink when you feel like this movie should be showing titties on screen and you don't get any! Lets face it, slasher films and titties go hand in hand, and when you don't see any you kind of feel robbed. You also have to drink if someone on screen drinks, there is a party scene in this film so keep an eye out.

Well with those rules, you might be really off your face 30mins in, so again take it easy haha! And enjoy!!

Dancing At The Blue Iguana

The improv strip club movie, with Daryl Hannah, Jennifer Tilly and Sandra Oh. I first saw this on Foxtel, and I really liked it but at that time I had no idea it was a film that the actors improvised. Watching it again knowing that, I didn't really think you could tell, it actually rolls together really well, the characters they created are all a little messed up and quite sad. You can see the sadness in their eyes, props to the ladies for some really good performances. Especially Sandra Oh, I thought she was really good here, and you could tell she put alot of effort into her character. Her strip/dance to Porcelian is really quite sad and she puts it across so well. Daryl Hannahs character is so clueless, but she does it in such a way, she's cute. She also put alot into her character, it shows. Jennifer Tilly who I always enjoy is a crazy bitch, and she does it well. There are some really funny and weird scenes, like the pregnancy test part. When I'm ready I'll have to watch Daryl Hannahs doco, which is included on the DVD (The R4 release I believe doesn't have any extras and you have to buy the doco on its own).

Spider-man 3

Pretty much a let down, compared to the first two. I found it kinda boring in parts, and the whole Peter/MJ thing is sooo boring and over done. The end part was pretty good, and for the most part the effects with Sandman were good. Venom looked great, but with Topher Grace's 15 yr old voice he sounded lame! Bryce Dallas Howard was cool as Gwen Stacey but sooo underused, it was a shame. She basically shit all over MJ. Kirsten Dunst looked old and tired in this, like she didn't want to be there. Tobey was fine, he suits the role. Oh and James Franco is such a gorgeous guy, he should take his clothes off.

Inland Empire

Lynch has done it again! Another warped film, that is utterly amazing. This is really difficult to actually review. There is just so much here, and the way it is done, just done so well. Much like Lost Highway and Mulholland Dr. this has the same kind of thing, characters, becoming different people. You know the drill. David Lynch has done this in such a way that you can decide for yourself what is going on, the clues are there. I don't think there is a right or wrong answer. I was amazed, this is a three hour film, not once did it drag, it actually felt like a 90min film and I wanted so much more. Laura Dern is this movie, she simply puts on a career best performance. I know this film will be hated, it is not for those who want things handed to them gift wrapped. This is a film that makes you think, like trying to solve a mystery. That is the beauty of Lynch's work, he makes you think, he forces you to use your head, to think, to find answers. Quite simply, I love you David Lynch!

The Lookout

Surprising movie, I wasn't really expecting much, it had a good trailer and I thought surely the movie wouldn't end up being very good. But as I said surprising, it really was quite good! Basically the story of a young guy Chris (Joseph Gordon-Levitt), who gets in a bad car accident and gets injured and isn't quite the same again. He lives with a Lewis (Jeff Daniels) a blind man, and attends classes, sees a case worker and does night shift at a bank. He then meets Gary (Matthew Goode), who basically befriends him, puts ideas in his head to get Chris to do what he wants. I suppose it helps through Gary he meets Luvlee (Isla Fisher), Chris fancies her ect... I wont give any more away, as the movie progresses it gets more interesting and intense. Scott Frank, makes his directortial debut and I think he did a really good job, this held my interest from start to finish. All the performances are really good, Joseph Gordon-Levitt can do no wrong. Matthew Goode was surprising as Gary, I think he gave off all the right vibes. Jeff Daniels walked through this, and he did it well. Isla Fisher can play an air head, a cute air head really well. This is definitely a movie I'd recommend.

A few movies I'm looking forward to

So here are some trailers for a few movies I'm looking forward to.

First one is War, and yes my main interest in seeing this is Jason Statham mmm, but the movie looks pretty exciting, although the voice over guy is pretty lame in the trailer.


Next one is Eastern Promises, from David Cronenberg, starring Naomi Watts, Vincent Cassel and Viggo Mortensen. Now Viggo apparently has a nude fighting scene in this, call me interested!


So this poor film keeps getting its release post-poned in the US and it'll probably be direct to DVD here, but I really want to see it. Jason Behr, yes please and Elias Koteas who I just love both star, so I'm there!

A Guide To Recognizing Your Saints

Started off a little slow, but once you get through that, it gets really good, and I was really into it. Basically its the story of Dito, asked by his Mamma to come back to NY to see his dying father, he's written a book about his life, and as he heads to his old home, we see his life before he left NY. Robert Downey Jr is really good in this, his scenes with Diane Wiest are great. Rosario Dawson always brings it, for her few scenes she owned it. Back in the past we have Shia LaBeouf as the young Dito, I have to say I seriously love this guy, he really owned this role. Although I have to say it was a bit weird hearing him tell his girlfriend he wanted to 'lick her pussy' lmfao! And Channing Tatum also owned his role as Dito's some what crazed friend Antonio. I'd have to say those two were really the stand outs, and their scenes with Chazz Palminteri who also is fantastic are some of the best in the film. This wont be for everyone, especially as the beginning might put people off, but I say give it a go.

Snatch

So I finally got around to seeing this, took me long enough, much like with Lock Stock. I thought it was pretty awesome, pretty fun movie. I did like Lock Stock better, but not by much. Great cast all round, I do love me some Jason Statham mmmm. Brad Pitt was hilarious as Mickey, can't understand a word he says either. Bullet Tooth Tony was quite the character, Vinnie Jones suits these kinds of roles. Boris the Blade was quite hilarious, and I did love Dennis Farina as well. I seriously thought Jason Flemyng looked like the red-haired Johnny Spiteri (David Wenham in Gettin' Square) just loved him! And the quotes, so many quotes!
