Twin Peaks

So I just finished watching the series Twin Peaks. I have to say it was quite an amazing show and experience. Season 1 was simply stunning, Season 2 also stunning but not quite as good.

Basically Twin Peaks is the story of a small town, with the most quirky characters. Nothing is what it seems in the small town. We start off with Pete (The excellent Jack Nance) finding a body, "She's dead, wrapped in plastic" are the infamous words he said. The body belongs to Laura Palmer, seemingly innocent High School student. But in Twin Peaks, nothing is what it seems, slowly the story of Laura Palmer gets revealed as her murder gets investigated. Which leads us to one of the best television characters of all time Special Agent Dale Cooper (Kyle MacLachlan), F.B.I. agent sent in to help, as the murder seems alot like that of another young lady. Basically it goes on from there, as we get to know the town and its cast of characters.

I have to say I really did love Dale Cooper, Kyle MacLachlan was flawless in the role, such a perfect fit. I really did also like the town Sheriff Harry S. Truman (Michael Ontkean), their scenes together are always great. The chemistry they had was perfect, as they go along and try and solve the crime, its just such a great watch.

Other stories in Twin Peaks, the dealings of Catherine Martell (Piper Laurie who is excellent), Josie Packard (Joan Chen) and Benjamin Horne (Richard Beymer). Their dealings were great, watching it all unfold, is soo good. Of course always hanging around is Pete, Jack Nance is fanastic.

Then we have Laura Palmers boyfriend Bobby Briggs (Dana Ashbrook), who is actually having it off with married waitress Shelly Johnson (Mädchen Amick). Meanwhile Shelly's husband Leo Johnson (Eric DaRe) looks to be up to no good, and a choice suspect in the murder.

Moving on we have Laura Palmer's best friend Donna (Lara Flynn Boyle), who wants to find out what happened to Laura. Working with James Hurley (James Marshall), who was secretly seeing Laura, they wind up getting involved.

Of course there is Sarah Palmer (Grace Zabriskie) and Leland Palmer (Ray Wise), Laura's parents who deal with the loss of their daughter, and things just get stranger and stranger.

Meanwhile at the Sheriff's department we have the on goings of sensitive Deputy Andy Brennan (Harry Goaz) and Lucy Moran (Kimmy Robertson). I have to say these two are insanely adorable, their relationship is so cute. Poor Andy, though gets picked on. I am sure people might have found them annoying, but I liked them.

And then we have the classic character of Nadine (Wendy Robie) who seems some what unstable, and wants to have silent curtain runners. Married to Ed Hurley (Everett McGill), who is in love with Diner owner Norma Jennings (Peggy Lipton), as they have secret meetings. I must say I loved the character of Nadine, and in Season 2 what happens to her is funny and sad at the same time. I just loved it. I really liked Ed and Norma as well, Normas husband who gets released from jail Hank Jennings (Chris Mulkey) also is up to no good.

As the show goes on we see more of Major Garland Briggs (Don S. Davis), the happenings with him are so strange, and great to watch. A great character, and such a great performance as well.

Another minor character who pops up, is the Log Lady (Catherine E. Coulson), her log sees things, and she always seems to help. You can't help but just love the log lady!

Ah, moving on to Miss Audrey Horne (Sherilyn Fenn), the daughter of Ben Horne. She takes it upon herself to find out what happened to Laura, and gets herself into some hot water. Meanwhile she has such a crush on Agent Cooper, they do form a really cute friendship which comes in handy in Season 2.

We also have Laura Palmer's cousin, Maddy (Sheryl Lee who also plays Laura Palmer) come into the story, and Maddy plays a vital role in the story and with the eventual reveal of who the murderer is.

Of course it doesn't stop there, we have the really quirky Doctor Jacobi (Russ Tamblyn), who had a professional relationship with Laura, but there is also much mystery there. And there is Deputy Hawk, who always seems to help out.

There is so much more, like some cool guest appearances from David Duchovney (Hilarious), Billy Zane, Heather Graham and the one and only David Lynch who was just great in the role of Gordon the deaf FBI guy!

Ahh such an amazing show, I already want to watch it all over again. I'm waiting for Fire Walk With Me to arrive from Amazon, which is the movie prequel of the show, but something much more darker and bizarre. I could keep going on about the show, but I'd like to keep things simple for anyone who hasn't seen it and such.

And if you haven't seen it, seek it out, it really is worth it!
