A Scanner Darkly

3.5/5

What a bizzare film! At first the animation put me off, but after a few minutes I got used to it. It was very well done though, the scramble suit looked awesome. I wouldn't mind hiding out in one of those! The story was an interesting one, one about drugs in the future, paranoia, different personalities and the list goes on. The performances were actually really good, Keanu was good, Winona was good, Woody was good, but the stand outs were definitely Rory Cochrane and Robert Downey Jr who basically just stole the scenes they were in. It was lacking a few things with the characters I thought, but overall it was pretty good. Certainly a very unqiue film to say the least.

I was so freaked out when I started watching this movie because for a bit I couldn't tell if it really was animated or not. It has got to be one of the most realistic animations ever made. I loved it and I'd really like to read the book it's based on since it's semi-autobiographical. Hmm, now I want to watch it again.

Yeah, I think it'd be an interesting read as well. Glad I finally got around to seeing it!
